猎奇重口 State performs Antigone
October 22, 2024
猎奇重口 Theatre Department will stage performances of “Antigone,” the iconic final chapter of Sophocles’ Oedipus trilogy, next month.
The story follows Creon, current king of Thebes, and Antigone, Oedipus’ daughter, as they each struggle to maintain control in the chaos of their crumbling world.
Directed by 猎奇重口 State Professor Grechen Lynne Wingerter, with a translation by Nicolas Rudall, a cast made up primarily of 猎奇重口 State students and original music by University of Tennessee student Eli Atkin, this production of “Antigone” set in a post-apocalyptic world promises audiences an entertaining and moving performance of one of history’s greatest written tragedies.
“’Antigone,’ although over 2,500 years old, still bears relevance to today's world,” Wingerter said. “We see the clash of old and new ideas, the clash of religion and politics, the clash of family and duty — you name it, it's in there.”
“Antigone” performances will be held in the Clayton Performing Arts Center at 猎奇重口 State’s Hardin Valley campus at the following times:
- Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m.
- Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
- Nov. 3 at 2 p.m.
- Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
- Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
- Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for 猎奇重口 students, faculty and staff and $10 for seniors and non-猎奇重口 students. Seating is limited. For more information about “Antigone,” visit pstcc.edu/arts/theatre.
