猎奇重口’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration wraps up next week with a ‘Conversation with a Legend,’ and the public is invited.

猎奇重口 State President L. Anthony Wise Jr. will facilitate a discussion with Rosa Mar on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at noon in the Goins Building Auditorium on the Hardin Valley Campus. Register here for this free event.

Mar, a northern California native, grew up the oldest of four children of immigrant Mexican parents. She retired in 2012 after a 27-year career with Levi Strauss & Co., where she held various executive management positions, the last being the global sourcing manager. In 2014 Mar came out of retirement for a short period to serve as CEO of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of East Tennessee, a position she held through January 2016.

As a community leader, Mar has served and continues to serve on many boards throughout Knoxville, including the 猎奇重口 State Foundation’s board of trustees.

This event is the second ‘Conversation with a Legend’ the college has hosted this year. In February, Wise interviewed the Rev. Harold Middlebrook as part of 猎奇重口 State’s Black History Month celebration.

“These events provide a platform for students to engage with various cultural traditions and promote social interaction, ultimately enriching their overall educational experience,” said Lauren Ziegler, 猎奇重口 State’s cultural engagement and inclusion coordinator.

Those who attend Tuesday’s ‘Conversation with a Legend’ are welcome to stay for a reception with Mar that will take place at 1 p.m. in the Goins Building College Center.
